Tout ce que l'on met dans le htaccess ralentit théoriquement l'accès, c'est le prix à payer.
Maintenant, est-ce vraiment important, je ne sais pas mais tu pourrais faire des test un domaine non-ouvert au public ou alors sur un sous répertoire de ton domaine.

Je suppose que ta question est aussi 'est-ce plus lent que d'utiliser le rewriting ?'...
A vue de nez, je dirais non, car le rewriting étant plus élaboré, il demande plus de temps machine.
Par contre, j'aurais une certaine tendance à préférer le simple deny from IP, c'est le truc qui demande le moins de tests.

Il faut être certain que ton hébergeur ne compresse pas déjà, sinon compressé du déjà compressé, n'apporte pas plus, mais ralenti certainement.

n'est ce pas mieux de laisser rentrer les bad_bot, une fois, en les bloquant en cas d'abus et de mettre le fichier.htaccess à jour ensuite. Il y a surement des bots qui ne viendront jamais te voir !

C'est vrai que je n'osais trop rien dire... mais en lisant sa liste, je me disais "je suis quand même peinard, je n'ai pas toute cette bande de mal-élevés qui viennent bloquer mon site"
Je n'avais même pas pensé que c'était du préventif...!
